BDV Workshop - Creating Revenue Models and Scaling Methods

"Creating Revenue Models"

In this session we will discuss the key factors that drive profitability: customer selection and value capture. Revenue model selection combines strategies for choosing the customer segments that provide the best revenue source, but this is contingent on whether value can be captured from that segment. In this session we will explore methods for answering the following questions:

Customer selection

  • Which customers do I want to serve?
  • To which customers can I add real value?
  • Which customers will allow me to profit?
  • Which customers do I not want to serve?
  • How do I make a profit?
  • How do I capture, as profit, a portion of the value I created for customers?
  • What is my profit model?

Value Capture

  • How do I make a profit?
  • How do I capture, as profit, a portion of the value I created for customers?
  • What is my profit model?

"Scaling Methods”

In this session we will discuss the key management systems of the firm and the order in which the startup should adopt these systems to scale the enterprise: financial planning, financial evaluation, human resource planning, human resource evaluation, strategic planning, product development management, sales/marketing management, and partner management.
